THE TEAM

DEvina Mahapatra
Founder
Devina founded the Dulles South Soup Kitchen to serve hot meals to those in need in Northern Virginia. Devina's passion for feeding the under-privileged came to light in her teens when her family fed the homeless, diseased and under-nourished in their hometown in India. She strongly believed that no one should have to sleep hungry. After moving to the United States in 2001, Devina had been an active volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program and the Frederick Rescue Mission. She also occasionally volunteered at the Capital Food Bank. Devina also worked at the Sunrise Senior Living in the evenings and weekends helping those with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Devina currently works as an Agile Coach at Capital One where she coaches leadership and teams on more efficient software delivery. She was the co-founder of MyBusinessAssistant and held several technology jobs in Corporate America.
Outside of work, Devina loves hanging out with her two kids - her limitless source of inspiration.

KALI VASANTHAN
Strategy & IT
Kali has had a passion to help people who are hungry. In a world where there are so many rich people and governments having a good inflow of cash, there are also millions of people who struggle to get food for all meals in a day, especially in a country as rich as ours. But what has moved him deeply is the fact that there are millions of kids who don’t get access to good food on several days in a year and that has been the core reason for him to want to help make sure people that need food shouldn’t have to go hungry or have to pay high to get good food.
The Dulles South Soup Kitchen’s mission and vision are compelling and he hopes to contribute and help in ways so as to help the community where people who need good cooked food should be able to get it when they want it.
Kali has been working in the financial industry for over a decade and has strong background in software engineering and infrastructure management. He started his career as a systems engineer for an abrasives manufacturing company followed by experience as a software engineer in the field of telecom software and data center network monitoring. He has been working in Fannie Mae for 15 years and is now a Software Technology Manager.
